Location
The project is located at the Hospital de la Axarquía, in Vélez-Málaga (Malaga), in the Axarquía district. The work forms part of the extension of the hospital complex through the construction of two annexe buildings for non-clinical uses.
Materials
For this project we supplied and installed PVC flooring, using high-quality materials from the following brands:

- Gerflor
These floor coverings are specially designed for healthcare and high-traffic environments, offering durability, easy maintenance, hygiene and wear resistance.
Project description
The Hospital de la Axarquía has completed a major extension with the opening of two new annexe buildings, whose main purpose is not to directly increase the number of beds or consulting rooms, but to reorganise and optimise the hospital's spaces.
The new buildings house complementary services such as:
- Assembly hall
- Cafeteria
- Chapel
- Training rooms
Moving these uses out of the main building frees up space for patient care, making it possible to expand areas such as Radiology, Gastroenterology and the day hospital, as well as to create a unit for chronic patients.
The work responds to the population growth of the district and the need to modernise a hospital that had reached its functional limit. The extension improves the centre's operational capacity and helps deliver more efficient healthcare, especially at times of high demand such as the summer season.
The project is also part of an overall strategy to renew healthcare infrastructure in Andalusia, with the aim of improving the quality of care and reducing pressure on the health system.
